Babyliss Hot Roller Review!

This was my first time ever using Hot Rollers and it took me a few times to get the hang of them, but in the end I was delighted with the look I achieved with the Babyliss Pro Hot Rollers.

The only thing I used in my hair was a bit of heat protectant, and after I took the curlers out I sprayed some finishing spray. I used the smaller curlers on the top and front of my hair and then bigger curlers on the bottom layers so I kept the length.

The curlers were really easy to use once I got the hang of them, the first time I didn't let them heat up enough. In the above picture I had let them heat up for about 20-30minutes, and then put them in and left them in my hair for another 20minutes. It sounds like a long time, but the curlers only take about 10-15minutes to actually put into your hair, I found it to be much quicker then using a curing iron.

The Babyliss pro has a 'Low' and 'Hi' heat setting, so you can pick which works best for your hair. The rollers come in 4 different sizes and have little spikes on them to keep our hair tangle-free and keep the curls even.

I'm really happy with the hot rollers and will be using them in place of a curling iron from now on!

Ouidad Hair Products

Alright, this one is for all the curly haired girls! Or anyone who loves a good haircare line! Maybe you have even heard of them before. I have a curly haired friend who swears by this line!

Ouidad sells a large range of luxurious curly hair products. You can shop their shampoos, conditioners, styling products, and finishing products by curl type, wavy, curly, tight curly, and kinky and then shop for your hair concerns like dry and damaged, limp and thin, frizzy or normal and of course they also have various hair tools and accessories.

My personal favorite is the Deep Treatment intensive conditioner. You put it in wet hair and leave it for 12 minutes and it will strengthen and moisturize your hair. Another item I like is the Sun Shield sun and sport leave in conditioner which will help protect your hair from harmful UV rays! The sun will dry out your hair and fade your color. It also protects your hair against environmental damage, like wind salt and chlorine.

I highly suggest you check out Ouidad's site and their great products, especially if you have curly hair! There are also some great tips on the site. They also offer free shipping on orders over $50, and free samples with every order.

Review - Babyliss Curling Iron

My hair has a real hard time staying curled. I don't curl my hair very often for this reason. I love the look of curly hair and have toyed with the idea of getting a perm but in the end decided it's not for me... I was sent a Babyliss curling iron and White Sands Infinity Finishing Hairspray to try and I was really excited with the results...

Curling iron and Spray... I couldn't get a picture of the spray without
glare no matter how hard I tried!

I first used some Thermal Shine heat protectant in my hair, then I curled my hair on the '20' heat setting. To change your heat setting, you push the dial to pop it out and turn it, then pop it back in when you have the setting selected that you want. I thought that was a neat little feature so you don't switch settings while doing your hair.

After I finished curling my hair with the Babyliss Curling Iron I used the White Sands Infinity Finishing Spray. My curls stayed bouncy and had great volume for hours after I was done, I was so impressed! The Finishing Spray has such a great smell to it, not like a typical hair spray, it smells kind of fruity.

The Babyliss Pro Tourmaline Curling Iron goes up to 420 degrees and has 20 different heat settings. It's actually rated as the second best curling iron by Flat Iron Experts! This curling iron has Tourmaline which is actually beneficial for your hair, preserving moisture and causes less damage to the hair cuticles.

I received the 1" curling iron but the Babyliss Tourmaline curling irons come in 5 other sizes. The Babyliss also features a long swivel cord which is a definite plus when it comes to curling your hair!

Flat Iron Experts Review

I am usually wary of using heat on my hair, even with a heat protectant I am so worried about the damage it will cause. But not any more!

I received the H&R Tourmaline Ceramic Flat Iron from Flat Iron Experts and I am in LOVE! It also came with a flat iron stand and Thermal Shine, which makes your hair smooth and silky and it is a heat protectant.

Flat Iron Stand, H&R Flat Iron, Thermal Shine

H&R Tourmaline Ceramic Flat Iron 1" in size and goes up to 410 degrees

The flat iron and thermal shine made my hair feel so soft and shiny, I couldn't stop running my hands through it. My old hair straighter pulled on my hair and felt rough but not this one, it runs through my hair easily and smoothly. I used it on the 350 degree setting and was done straightening my hair in no time. It heats up very quickly so there isn't much wait time! There is also a red light that will flash when it's ready to use. Another thing I really liked about this flat iron is that it has a nice long 3 meter swivel cord, making it virtually tangle free.

The tourmaline and ceramic plates actually cause less damage to your hair cuticles then your average hair straightener. It also helps your hair retain moisture so it doesn't dry out and helps eliminate frizz.

You can click here to check out the H&R Flat Iron!  Flat Iron Experts offers free shipping to US and Canada for any purchase over $50!

My Haircare Products

I have long hair. It's about 5inches off of being butt length.

I love my hair, and I like to think I take VERY good care of it. I rarely use heat on my hair, MAYBE once a month ad if I do I use a lot of heat protectant spray. I only use wide tooth combs on my hair to minimize breakage and I try to drink lots of water to keep my hair hydrated.

Any ways, I thought I would share what I use on my hair. So here we go:

  • Shampoo and Conditioner: I'm not that picky but I like to use something that moisturises my hair. I like Tresemme splint end remedy or L'Oreal.
  • Mask/Deep Conditioner: Tresemme Rejuvenating Mud Masque. I've got a trend going here don't I? I didn't realize I was such a big fan of Tresemme.
  • Heat Protectant Spray: Tresemme Heat Tamer Spray.
  • De-tangling Spray: Garnier Double Care Triple Nutrition.
  • Aussie Split End Protector
  • John Frieda Sheer Blonde Controlled Lightening Spray

Review - John Frieda Sheer Blonde

I received a small bottle of John Frieda Sheer Blonde Controlled Lightening Spray for free off of their facebook page. My mother got one too but since she has black hair she gave it to me.

The package says after 10 uses there will be a noticeable difference and it works best on blonde hair. I was really impressed with this stuff! I definitely notice a difference, particularly on the bottom half of my hair since it is lightest. I haven't died my hair in over a year so the top half is darker because of my roots growing out. I have started using it only on the tops of my hair to lighten it up a bit more. I'm planning on dying my hair pink and this is great alternative to bleaching.

I would definitely consider buying this stuff full size. I would recommend it to anyone who wants to easily lighten their hair a shade or two. This stuff is awesome!

Review - Tresemme Rejuvenating Mud Masque

I love trying out new hair products, especially masques. I found this one while looking for new products to try, and it was only $4.

Tresemme Rejuvenating Mud Masque

First things first, it smells delicious, and it is nice and thick, unlike other masques that have a creamy or more watering consistency. I left it on for the suggested 3-5 minutes and my hair felt nice and soft afterwards. The packaging claims that after just 1 use your hair is 10x stronger and replenishes your hair leaving it strong and healthy looking. I can't say whether it really made my hair 'stronger' but I can say that my hair felt soft and did look healthier after just one use.

I'm hoping you can get a feel for how thick it is by looking at this picture, if you can see the indents from where I grabbed the product to apply it, it has not shifted even when I shake the container. I love how thick it is!

What's your favorite hair masque?

Review - Tresemme Dry Shampoo

I hear/read all the time that you shouldn't wash your hair everyday, but I just can't go without washing my hair everyday, it gets too oily and it just feels heavy and gross. I have wanted to try a dry shampoo for awhile now so when I saw the Tresemme Dry Shampoos were just $4 at Walmart I grabbed one to try out.

I got the Volumizing kind.

The only thing I liked about this product is that it did give my hair some volume but it did not make my hair look any cleaner. On the packaging it says 'oil & odour remover', I don't know if it 'removed' any 'odour' from my hair but it did NOT leave my hair looking any less oily and my hair still felt and looked dirty. It has a scent to it that is kind of strong while spraying and lasts for about 20-30mins in your hair.

I will keep looking for a dry shampoo that works, I will probably still use this occasionally for the volume. Have you found a dry shampoo that works?

Review - mark. 'oily skin set'

I have very oily, acne prone skin. I have used a lot of different products and I have never had any long term success. For example, proactiv worked well at clearing my skin up but after six months it stopped working for me, same goes for the Clinque acne solutions. I had seen the mark. set a few times before and I figured I might as well give it a shot.

I have been using the set for a little over two weeks. I like the 'that's deep' cleanser because it's a gel and it doesn't lather up and get real 'sudsy', I don't like a big lather on my face, and it does make my skin feel really clean.

'that's deep' Cleanser

The moisturiser, 'matte chance',  feels nice and light on my skin, I hate a heavy moisturiser, the only thing that I really don't like about it is that there is no SPF in it, which means I need to use something else with SPF in it.

'matte chance'

Using the cleanser and moisturiser I can definitely see a difference, my face is no where near as oily, it does exactly what is promised. However I won't be using it long-term, I'm still searching for something that works for me that will get rid of acne. If you have any suggestions feel free to comment below!

Julep Spring Mystery Boxes

I was so excited after my St. Patricks Day Mystery Box I couldn't wait until they offered another mystery box, so when they announced the Spring Mystery Boxes I had to get two ;)

Always cute packaging!

Here's what was inside my first box:

Kelly, Anne, Melissa, Basecoat, Cuticle Oil

Kelly is a great blush color, perfect for manicures. Anne is a really pretty purple, unfortunately I already had her. Melissa is very shimmery with what looks like green undertones. I also got a base coat which I was REALLY happy about, I needed a new one, and finally a cuticle oil, which looks to be standard in mystery boxes.

Here's the second box:

Gayle, Sienna, Melissa, Fast Dry Topcoat, Cuticle Oil

Gayle is my favorite polish out of both boxes, she a gorgeous deep purple. Sienna is a very sparkly gold polish, and it's pretty opaque. Melissa, again. Fast dry topcoat, super happy with this because I'm not a fan of seche vite, and another cuticle oil.

I am really happy with my boxes (even if I didn't get a giftcard ;)) I can't wait until they offer another mystery box! The doubles will be used in a future giveaway along with some other goodies so make sure you like my facebook and follow me on twitter for updates!

You can STILL join Julep and get your first box for just 1 CENT! Click Here take the short quiz, and add your box to your bag and use the code 'COLORS4ONE' at checkout! Mani/Pedi kit for just 1cent :)

My MAC Favs

I've done my 'Sephora Wants', now I'm going to do my 'MAC Favs'.

Now, I am not someone who wears make up every day, besides my studio fix powder which I do pretty much wear everyday, I wear mascara and all that jazz maybe once a week. However I've come to fall in love with a few products, so here they are:

1.
1. Studio Moisture Fix SPF15. I use this mostly for the SPF for the times when my moisturisers don't have spf in them already.
2. Studio Fix Powder. This is something I use everyday because my skin sometimes gets red and this helps cover that up quickly and easily, and my skin is oily so this helps with that too.
3. Fluidline. I have the brown and the black, I love how easily they go on and stay on.
4. ZoomLash. I know everyone is different with what types of Mascara they like but for me I like this because it goes on very thin and doesn't clump and make my eyelashes too thick.
5. Cream Colour Bases. I have a few of these and I love them under eye shadows or wearing them alone. I use 'Luna' as a highlighter all the time.
6. Paint Pots. These are my weakness when it comes to MAC. I have about 10 of them and like the cream colour bases I like them under eye shadows or wearing alone.
7. Hello Kitty Nail Polish in 'On The Prowl'. I started my MAC collection when the Hello Kitty line came out, unfortunately I was only able to get a few things from that collection before it sold out.

Hope you enjoyed seeing what my MAC favs are... What are yours? I would love some suggestions on what else I should try!

Julep Maven April Box

I was so excited Julep gave us the option of adding up to two polishes to this month's box for just $5 each. What a great deal! If you are a regular reader you know how much I love Julep, so of course I added a couple polishes ;) The two polishes propped up on the box are the extras I added.

The packages are always so cute! Obviously going for an Easter theme, there were some chocolates thrown in too!

I switched from my usual 'American Beauty' box to the 'It Girl' solely because it came with a polish named Jessica. Here is what I got this month:

A set of toe separators and 5 lil chocolates. I love the little bonuses Julep adds!

Parker - Vivid tangerine, SO hot right now! She was one of the polishes I added for $5.
Susie - Mint green, another hot color right now, I couldn't leave her behind, she was my other $5 polish.

Jessica - Pastel blue, she was in the It Girl box and much prettier and brighter in person.
Niecy - She's hot pink, need I say more? She was in the It Girl box and Gorgeous!
Penelope - A lovely blush color, she is so classic. She was also in the It Girl box.

Like always, I am so happy with all the colors, they are all so much more beautiful then I expected. I have a couple Easter Mystery boxes on the way too, so stay tuned for that, I am really excited about them!!

By the way you can STILL get your first Julep box for just 1cent! yes, 1 cent!!! Click here take the short quiz and they will match you up with a box, click 'sign me up', then 'add to bag' and then put the code 'PENNY' in the discount code section! Voila! Complete mani/pedi for 1cent ;)

Where are all the makeup junkies?

The other day my sister and I found out that there is going to be a Sephora opening in the mall. Words cannot describe our excitement. Sure we can buy things online but ... A Sephora... In our mall. SO EXCITED.

Any ways, I've put together a list of things I will be grabbing on opening day:

1. Naked Palettes/2.Urban Decay Primer Potions/3. Nars Orgasm Blush
4. Buxom Lips and Buxom Inside liner/5. Philosophy Purity

There are some other things on my list too, but these are my main 'must have' items. Sephora came out with a line of Hello Kitty items and I doubt they will be bringing them here as they have already started to go on clearance online but if there are any in store I will be grabbing some of those items too!

What are your fav Sephora buys and what would you suggest to a first timer?

Julep: St Patrick's Day Mystery Box!

About a week before St. Patricks day Julep offered a "mystery package" for 19.99, stating it contained $60-$200 dollars worth of product. I am a sucker for 'mystery bags', so I bought one, I had missed out on the Valentines day one and wasn't about to miss out on this one too.

It came in a green box, of course, and was filled with green crinkle cut packing paper. The products were all in a Julep makeup bag which I thought was awesome, there's pockets inside that fit the julep polishes! They through in some chocolate too!

Sorry about the lighting,
couldn't find my good camera!

Here's what was in my box:

  • Full size hand cream with 30 SPF
  • Glass Nail File
  • Cuticle oil
  • Nail Appliques in Peacock
  • 3 Polishes, Maya, Emma, and Sofia

From left to right:
Maya, Sofia, Emma

Maya is a very light pearlescent peach/pink color.
Sofia is a beautiful bright green with blue glitter.
Emma is a shimmery soft pink.

I am REALLY happy with my mystery box! I hope they do one for Easter, I will definitely snatch one (or two) up! I am such a huge fan of Julep, they always live up to my expectations. You can STILL get your first Julep box for just 1 cent! Click here, fill out the style quiz, click Sign Me Up, add the box to your bag and enter the code "color2012"! Enjoy!

March Julep Box. (code for 1cent box!)

This month I decided to try a different themed box, instead of "American Beauty" like I usually get I got the "Boho Glam", because I liked the color of the polishes a bit better. I was SO excited for this months box because it came with Moroccan Argan Oil and I had heard a lot of good things about it, especially for your hair. The two polishes are 'Alicia' which is a really pretty Salmon color that I love, it's the perfect spring color! Portia is the blue sparkly polish, that would look great layered over another blue! They also threw in the Julep nail file. I think it's awesome when they add a little extra in there!

March Boho Glam

Alicia is the Salmon Color and Porcia is the Sparkly Blue.

You can STILL get your first box for just 1 cent! Click Here take the short style quiz and use the code "color2012" at  the checkout!
