Cute and Comfy Sleepwear

I am a sucker for a great pair of slippers and a house coat (or robes, whatever you want to call them). During the winter months here in Canada, especially in the maritimes, you need to keep bundled up! During the cold months, slippers and house coats are what my family wears all day while lounging around the house! I'm always looking for my slippers though, one of the dogs always seem to drag them off!

With that said... I think that's a great idea for gifts! Valentines day will be here before you know it and what better way to show the special someone in your life you care then by giving them a little something comfy and cozy! (hint, hint to my boyfriend!!)

Review - NYC Quick Dry Nail Polish

I love a quick drying nail polish, I have lots of the Rimmel 60 Second polishes and I love them because they dry quickly and for most of the colors I only need one coat.

When I was at WalMart the other day I saw the NYC polishes were 2 for $3 and figured I would give them a try, for 1.50 I didn't have much to lose so I grabbed two colors.

the red color is 'Madison Avenue'
the purple color is 'Prince Street'

I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of these polishes. They apply very well, I did need two coats but since they dry so quickly I didn't mind. The brushes are 'flat' which makes the polish go on nice and even.

I will definitly be picking more of these up, it's hard to beat $1.50 for a nail polish AND have it be a good quality!

Wishlist Wednesday - my Shopping Diet.

I have decided to take a shopping diet, until my birthday which is July 29th. With the exception of the opening of Sephora**, I have decided I will not buy anything I don't need until my birthday comes around.

I have decided that every Wednesday from now on will be 'Wishlist Wednesday'. On Wednesday I will post TWO 'Wishlist' items, one will be something I will be able to buy when my Shopping diet is over and the other will be something I would buy if I won the lottery ;)

**Sephora opens on June 22nd in the mall near me and there is NO WAY I am missing out on that! This is my only 'shopping' exception. Also, I will not be cancelling my regular Julep and GlossyBox subscriptions. I won't be buying any shoes or clothes or make up for myself until my birthday!!

My first GlossyBox!!

I have wanted to join BirchBox for a LONG time, but they don't ship to Canada... Someone then told me about TopBox, which is the Canadian equivalent but I have been on the 'waitlist' for 4 months... Then I found Beauty Box 5 and GlossyBox and I signed up for both right away!

How do you like to shop?

Almost every store has an online website where you can buy from, making shopping as easy as clicking a button. But what do you prefer, in store or online shopping?
Personally I prefer online shopping, mostly because the nearest decent mall is about a 40minute drive, and since I don't drive personally I have to rely on someone taking me shopping. I am the only one in my family who loves to shop so this leaves me with shopping online. But let's look at some of the pros and cons of each.
Online Pros:

No crowds! No crowds means no standing in line waiting! Or having someone breathing down your neck while you are browsing through shirts they are waiting to look at.

Sit in the comfort of your own home while shopping. You can get into your fav pjs with a blanket and a cup of coffee (or wine) and away you go!

Ebates! Earn Cash back for shopping online, how cool is that?

A lot of stores that are exclusively online or stores that have huge inventories online have large clearance sections, or better yet sales, and frequently! Online Cons:

You can't really try things on, unless you know what your size is and the clothes/shoes you are buying are true to size you take a risk in having to return them. Which is fine if the site has a free return policy but if they don't have a good return policy, you might have a hard time returning things.

Customer service. If the website has bad customer service, you might run into some problems. I have heard horror storis of people trying to return things that were defective or they received by accident.

Colors are different depending on lighting/computer screens. What I mean by that is you might see something white online and and in reality it's grey.

Instore Pros:

You can try things on, of course. As I said above, since you can try it on, you can ensure that it not only fits but that you like it looks good on your body.

What you see is what you get. If something has a snag/scuff/imperfection, you wouldn't buy it.

Different selection of items then available online. Some stores have 'in store exclusive items'.

Sales and Clearance racks might be different that what is online.

Some stores don't have online stores. (H&M for example.) Instore Cons:

Crowds. This is a biggie for me, as stated above. I hate crowded areas, not to mention rude people. Why do people have to stand right in the middle of a crowded mall and have a chat?!

Rude employees. Ever have someone just follow you around, making sure you aren't stealing? Or scoffing at you, thinking you won't actually be buying anything? I understand they are trying to protect themselves but it is annoying.

Travel time. Might not be a big deal for some.

Sometimes I have a hard time finding things in my size. I find that usually the small sizes are what's left on in store racks.

And there you have it! My pros/cons lists for both instore and online shopping. But what is your favaorite method of shopping? And where are your fav places to shop, both instore and online? Here's a list of a few stores I love to shop at online:

Julep: St Patrick's Day Mystery Box!

About a week before St. Patricks day Julep offered a "mystery package" for 19.99, stating it contained $60-$200 dollars worth of product. I am a sucker for 'mystery bags', so I bought one, I had missed out on the Valentines day one and wasn't about to miss out on this one too.

It came in a green box, of course, and was filled with green crinkle cut packing paper. The products were all in a Julep makeup bag which I thought was awesome, there's pockets inside that fit the julep polishes! They through in some chocolate too!

Here's what was in my box:

From left to right:

Maya is a very light pearlescent peach/pink color.

Purses Part Two! Cheap Shoedazzle look a likes and more!

About a month ago I wrote a post about Shoedazzle purse look-a-likes and other cute purse finds on ebay, including this little gem, which looks A LOT like Iredell and comes in 7 colors! AND it's under $25!

New Years Resolutions.

It's been awhile...

Alright, it's the start of the year when you are feeling really good and upbeat about your resolutions and ready to tackle and fulfill them all. Let's see how many I can keep!

• Read 100 books in 2012. 
• I never was a 'reader' before but in 2011 I started reading more and now I love it. I only read about 30 books last year and really wanted to challenge myself. I really hope I can go way beyond 100 books.
• Quit my caffeine/fast food addiction. 
• This is a biggie. I love fast food so freaking much it's pathetic. Nothing is more pleasing or appealing to me then a Wendy's Jr. Bacon Cheeseburger. Which honestly would be fine if I could manage to just eat one even once a week. But I over do it, hardcore.
• Caffeine is another thing I have way too much. It wouldn't be so bad if I just had coffee or whatever but no, the only caffeine I really drink are Iced Cappuccinos from Tim Hortons and since we are just a 2 minute drive away, (or a 30 minute walk, if I am desperate) I have had one nearly everyday for months, at 700 calories for a large I just can't do it anymore! 
• Exercise regularity.
• I used to exercise 2 hours a day on average and at least 5 days a week. In the past 4 months that has gone down drastically. I'm lucky to get my lazy ass on the treadmill for a half hour just once a week.
• I get so jealous watching people run outside. I know, that sounds kinds of crazy but I am such a shy and paranoid person that the thought of running outside by myself is scary to me. I would love to run 5km at a time, it's been my goal for years. I figure that would be about an hours run, I have built up to 30 minutes but since I do it on the treadmill I think it's time to take it to the next  step. Running outside.
• Be smarter about my buys.
• From now on when the first rolls around I will be picking the shoes I want based on the whether or not I would actually wear them, not because they are gorgeous and I need to own them. If I'm not gonna wear them I don't need them, I have a closet not a shoe museum. (My boyfriend would argue this.)
• And finally, my last real goal for 2012 is to blog more. I really liked blogging when I did it before but I am always so self-conscience about saying something stupid that I am nervous about updating my blog. (Not that I think I have tons of readers just waiting on pins and needles for me to update my blog, but I think you get the picture.)
